1:1 private for student at Park Day School

Park Day School • Oakland

1:1 private for a 4th grade student at Park Day School, about 2 hours per day, for ELA and Math classes.

We are looking for a kind, patient, invested, interested teacher in training or graduate to work 1:1 for an intelligent, kind, creative 4th grade student at Park Day School, about 2 hours per day. She has an IEP from 2023 and is soon completing a re-evaluation. Her Learning Differences include ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Slow Processing, and Auditory Working Memory difficulties. We, her school learning specialist, past teachers, head of lower school, and psychologist who did her Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation believe she may benefit from some individualized support within the school day, during Math and English Language Arts, to help her stay focused - on task, to encourage her to work hard and through discomfort "develop more grit", and work with her at her pace and level. Basically supporting the teacher's teachings, offering pre-view and reviewing material, while accommodating the student's learning style and needs for using multi-sensorial tools, etc. Anxiety is also present, so sensitivity to classroom and social dynamics is required for improving/maintaining the students mental health. This may mean working with student in a small group context and/or helping other students to avoid alienating or stigmatizing the 1:1 student. You must be willing to work with the teacher, learning specialist, tutor and other members of the student's Team, including responding to feedback and suggestions. Also, regular check in with the parents with qualitative and quantitative feedback is required.
